If you have trouble with reading and want to ditch your glasses for good, Visian ICL might be a good solution for you!
Visian ICL (Implantable Contact Lens) eye surgery is an alternative to other procedures like LASIK or PRK vision correction. It is used to treat moderate to high myopia (nearsightedness). You are an ideal candidate for Visian ICL eye surgery if you are between the ages of 21 and 45 and have had consistent prescriptions for the last 12 months.
Wondering about the safety of this procedure? It is one of the safest, most effective eye surgeries available. Visian ICL surgery is an FDA-approved, reversible procedure during which an implantable lens is placed behind the iris of the eye to correct your vision. The high-tech Visian ICL lens material is called “Collamer”. It has a collagen base which makes it bio-compatible with your eyes. When compared to other refractive procedures, Visian ICL can give you sharper, clearer, more vivid vision. The procedure takes only a few minutes (15-30) per eye and has an overall success rate of 99%.
First, you will meet with Dr. Ilan Cohen in our state-of-the-art facilities at the 5th Avenue Eye Center in New York and New Jersey. During your screening exam, he will make sure Visian ICL is right for you. During your consultation, Dr. Cohen will examine your eyes, take measurements of various elements and suggest the best course of action to take to get the sharpest vision at the lowest risk. If Visian ICL eye surgery is the best option for you, we will set up a surgery date.
Just before surgery, you will be administered local anesthetic drops to numb your eyes. You may also be given the option of taking a mild sedative prior to the procedure to help you relax. It takes about 15 minutes per eye from the time that you enter the operating room until you come out.
Afterwards, you will be given antibiotic, anti-inflammatory eye drops and return to recovery room with your eyes open. Since Visian ICL implant surgery is an outpatient procedure, you can go home shortly after resting for a bit. You will not be allowed to drive, so bring someone with you to drive you home. You can expect to rest for the remainder of the day and can often resume normal activities as soon as that same night.
